Conversely, Catch Phrases: "You just never know"; could be catchy.                                                        Part 2 in a series on communication

Conversely: As explained in a degree of detail yesterday, effective communication takes into account, pays attention to, details. On the other hand...effective communicators also utilize remarks which might, at first glance, contradict one you or someone you are in conversation with, one just made, even as in a technicality, regarding an important detail. More specifically, introducing a statement which contrasts with one that precedes it, by yourself or an 'other'. Part of conversing, or conversating. Sometimes can become strident; conversely, can add depth and breadth to a conversation. You just never know how this might go. Or, conversely, start, such as conversation starters, which can, in turn, utilize...

Catch Phrases, One Liners: Which are phrases, statements, questions which tend to be aligned with a famous person, movie, event, etc. Can even be in the form of a question. Even just one word, as in "Word" -- which, in today's now common parlance, can mean agreement or beg a question...all in one "word". As in "What's the good word?" To which I have, over the past several years responded, "Plastics -- the future's in plastics...now, you tell me the year and the movie this catch phrase came from..." Which almost becomes part of a sustained conversation and a follow-up next time I see them. On the other hand, conversely, if I want an abbreviated convo I respond, especially early in the year, with "deductible" -- thud. Well, if you didn't want, if you weren't ready for the answer..."The truth, you can't handle the truth!" In addition to being wary of what, you might well be cautious of who and when you ask even innocent sounding questions, because...

"You never can tell": As in, you never can tell who might tell you more than you bargained for. Like, this very morning, when I made the innocent inquiry to the convenient store clerk, at the pre-dawn hour, "So, how was your night, quiet?" Which was the moment he apparently was hoping, waiting for, as he came on with..."Well, it's been tough ya' know, when life elsewhere is not going well, how can I perform well here...man, it's been rough ya' know?! To which I offered, "Oh, that sounds challenging" Didn't stem the tide..."Oh man, I'm glad you asked, I think I gotta' do something about this; do you think I should see a head doctor?" At which time I hinted what kind of office I was on the way to, without fully explaining...looking for a graceful exit...an exit he assisted in with another unexpected salvo, "Oh man, you totally made my day, I mean night, I mean...thanks, man, for listening!" Which brought to mind, one of my favorite catch phrases of all time which, when issued as a salvo, even in the calm with which Clint Eastwood as "Dirty Harry" issued it, 'pointedly'...

"Go ahead, make my day" You just never know. And here, my day's only half over...
