RE: Serve, Reserve, Re-Serve: Worthy of Our Time, Money, Consideration...

Versionary: While all 3 have been part of all of our daily lives all along, different versions serving us and those around us in different ways at various points and stages, whether initially taught, then modeled, then acted out (in meme from medical schools includes "watch one, do one, teach one"), the similarities and differences between the various dimensions and iterations of serving, let alone when preceded by Re:/re, can become blurred, misunderstood, misinterpreted, let alone misapplied...which doesn't serve any of us well. So, here I am, in your service once again as your faithful blogger, in an attempt in this space and time that is reserved for such purpose, to provide a modicum of clarity and may even provoke you to either...

Hold Back: "Hold in reserve"...whether money, time, or energy you may eventually need, preserving them for a later purpose, unanticipated but planned for complications or undesired circumstances...or even desired...as in planning for your child's education, putting money in separate envelopes (or accounts) for designated spending, specific purposes, current or future (e.g., "restricted" versus "unrestricted" general funds -- U.S. Government officials pay attention here), or taking the advice of child developmentalists, "Get a lot of rest...you'll need it to keep up with your toddlers...your teens if you are fully engaged...even as grandparents...do you want to lead, follow, or just have enough energy to stay out of the way...?". Or even when you pause, utilize the clause, "I reserve the right to..." As the med school meme implies, to learn, engage, and even lead, for "best (and worst) practices" (another meme finding and winding its way into our daily usage), you'll need a good model, at least template, for both serving and reserving...

Capital/Capitol, Funding: As in money that lenders and equity holders provide to a business for both daily and long-term needs...the lenders themselves have to be deemed worthy as fiduciaries and stewards to be in such a position to serve, having preserved sufficient funds to be in such a position to serve, after which they will be watching us to see how the lendees utilize these precious resources. Collectively, if these litmus tests were applied to those elected to serve, in the U.S. Capitol, ostensibly "looking out for the next generation..."๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ˜•๐Ÿ˜Ÿ...This, in contrast to those that "elect to serve"...as in "The Reserve": "...where you'll have enough time to go to school and do your civilian job as well..." If you are among those, "Thank you for your service", for electing to serve in such a capacity that allows such a balance, especially if you are signing up again, to re-serve US...

Lessons for US, All: Whether in considering the various dimensions of serving, reserving, or even prior, as in pre-serving, it's always helpful to me to re:turn to yet another 'meme' (which wasn't even a 'thing' yet) taught and well modeled by two different mentors, in how we, as aspiring psychologists, were trying to serve others and becoming fatigued, even a bit burned-out๐Ÿ˜ž: You're probably breaking rule number one, which is "not take yourself too seriously, as you're going to make mistakes", but meanwhile take rule number two seriously, which is "your service to others"...a balance that has served me well, both professionally, personally, both at the start and the finish...

"At the end of the day" And along the way (every stage and age), when things don't go my way (a bit burnt, not overdone), "when all is said and done" (every meme, scheme), words that preserve, with little in reserve, "Thank you for your time, consideration"
