Re:Markable Progress, Getting Carded

"Mark this Down" Both parents and students have already heard this from various voices representing formal educators, teachers, front office staff..."put this on your calendar, make a note of it..." Important dates, meetings, even quotations from famous folks we as students may have to re-quote precisely on an upcoming "quizlet" (new name for learning tools we had as lads) or even major, "cumulative" ๐Ÿ˜Ÿ exam. So much to remember, if we try to simply commit to memory, without marking it down...well, let me know how that worked out for you, whether you were "conspicuous by your absence..." What I am going to re:mark on here, in this limited space, and in the presence of your limited attention span and being "pressed for time"๐Ÿ˜“, some times of the year we can all relate to, what we have come to count on, those that mark progress, "student progress" in particular..."Your school must give you grades on a report card at least twice per year; some schools choose to share report cards at conferences...Report cards are now available online for students in our elementaries through high school; charter (as well as private) schools may choose alternative reporting formats, so please check with your...Free customizable report cards...create a blank report card....Free templates available online..."๐Ÿ˜•๐Ÿ˜•๐Ÿ˜•

Marking Progress Throughout: As in growing up, passed the time (and grades๐Ÿคž) we may have been referenced in conferences as being "such a card!"๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜Ÿ, while we were otherwise developing in all the major (measurable) domains, such as "cognitive", "psychomotor", and "affective" (sometimes referred to as "social-emotional"), those that gave rise to formal "Educational Taxonomies" (fancy name those in "higher education" gave us to describe categories), and the ones traditionally covered on most report cards...we started getting lots of feedback ("early and often") from those attempting to foster growth, guide us...some in the form of casual, incidental (as in "per incident", "teaching opportunities!") and others more formalized, the ones that even arrived through the mail, "To the Parents of...". Most of us started hearing from our parents about our "marks" when it was "report card" time, which may even coincide with "conferences" (more on this later). We also learned about the importance of sending (mostly "Thank You") cards, to relatives, anyone who may have gifted us...and some time/distance down the road, we found out whether we were 'road worthy', when we took our formal driver's test, got a report card, which told us (and those we may share the road with) whether we knew the "bare minimum", as in "proficiency" (a huge topic in education these days, which I will return to here, in yet another post), enough for us to obtain our "Driver's Permit"...which could in turn be yanked by our parents if we received a ("lousy"!) report card or, even after high school, if we modified our (license) in an attempt to gain access to other adult amenities...when we anticipated getting "carded" (which, in my case, hasn't happened "in a minute"), might be re-voked by someone in even higher authority...This, along with, usually preceded by, "student progress reports", the ones that traditionally came about mid-way in between the more formal, comprehensive report cards, which allowed a bit of correction before the mail came...Now, of course, after a lot of change, trends, it's almost a constant, barrage of information๐Ÿ˜•, before even arriving at "back-to-school night"...we have arrived at a new and improved...

"Back-and-Forth, Early and Often"..."almost continuous, fluid forms of communication on behalf of our students, what you can expect from us here at the school, in terms of access, availability, feedback -- when, how we will get back to you; your own preferred mode of contact...you can even schedule a conference upon request"
