Re: missives: what we learned, earned, yearn for. "Lest I be..."

Part 2: Party of the First Part.

In letter form: How we, after learning to say them, all 26 (which ones were you prone to leaving out?), were taught how to form them, first in printed form, with our best attempts to "stay between the lines" (which is eventually where we also learned how to read, for the "hidden meanings"), which then became fully formed paragraphs, which could, depending on who we were intended on addressing, could take a lengthier, formal form, as in a "missive" As I pondered what to include in the post regarding yet another reflection on the party, AKA "the gathering" which has been partly covered -- as in Part 1, on December 21st, which included some of my own, miss-givings on my experiences on a particular evening, a so-called "party" that I was called to, then "called out", called a few chosen names (other than my own), and culminated in calling for my coat and hat, a wee bit earlier than planned for. In prepping another report on this from another angle, representing what we often hear, about what was heard, seen, by those on the (ob)scene ("embedded journalism!"), occasionally featuring those we are otherwise familiar with from the "nightly news" on whatever channel or news feed is your go-to, but "here and now!" a bit (ob)scured by camo...a bit dramatic, "over-the-top" if you ask me; they could have saved the time and expense and made the same IMPACT! these days, by simply engaging the services of "Photo-shop" with only a small remittance...prior to me posing as such, otherwise termed as an "intrepid" reporter: an investigative journalist who goes and finds stories, rather than waiting for them to come and find him/her..."sometimes this seems to be the only kind of reporter utilized in fiction...they tend to get far more involved in their stories than is usually recommended for real journalists..." Well, at least I can say "I was there for you" when I get back to reporting from the (ob)scene...what happened that evening, based on my own "I witness account" -- I'll get back to this so that you, too, may experience, feel my pain, what I endured, by just being there, let alone trying to be "Nice" (see December 19th for compare and contrast, "Naughty, Nice")...

By addressing: Via a "missive" which these days is often found, itself, "embedded" as in being part of a larger doc, which could if one is sufficiently surreptitious, a byte mischievous, could find itself re-dacted, coming out a bit different than it went in...more fiction than fact, perhaps...an "exaggerated, amped up version...nonetheless underwhelming in its effect" or "to make a long story..." even longer than it needs to be, but due to its hyperbolic content, keeps you, the reader, stick around for the "good stuff", as in (really juicy!) "gossip...people are talking..." And, what news report, at least the ones "brought to you by", versus those you can read "at your leisure" would be complete, without the dire predictions of HUGE STORMS!!, some of which never quite materialize ("missed us, TG!"), and when they do, we tune in for some "Live!" coverage of yet another "embedded meteorologist" who had been cautioning us to stay put ourselves, earning grimaces (when was the last time you saw one of these and/or guilty yourself of making such a face...or used this word in print?) from those who were filling sandbags, putting up protective covers on storefronts, while this individual and their crew were getting in the way and otherwise "making nuisances of themselves". Which, after the storm had finally passed was addressed by the local community via a formal complaint, complete with attachments, supporting docs, most likely on official letterhead, which often announces to the reader it's a missive. Sometimes, when read aloud, in the context of a church service, may be referred to as an "Epistle" which, especially at this time of the year, takes the form of an announcement of the coming, the "Advent", accompanied by the lighting of candles. And corresponding to the time of year, almost worldwide now, that children are encouraged to write a well-thought out, letter to Santa..."and make sure you include a return address...or you might miss out" Followed, several days later, by "Thank You" notes which are less formal, haphazardly scribbled, and done only at the behest (a word that will likely earn you grimaces, if/when you utter it at a party) of their parents, who themselves are trying their best not to be...remiss-ive.
