Person of Interest: Terms, traits, and states...
"How do you do...?" It, I mean just how do you keep this up, day after day, keep finding new material, ways to other-wise first capture, then sustain our attention...? Good question, opener...worded a slightly different way, as in a derivation on a theme, what if you tried, upon meeting someone new, especially a person you, at first glance (or "...at first sight") see some potential..."in your dreams, dude..." one that you think might be "out of sight", or, in our days, "out of our league" ππ’ Just how do you do...it, approach such a situation, whether you are seated by your host, next to someone you are expected to engage, at least at some point during the "long night ahead" or you, upon getting just a glimpse of someone across the room who has, through some yet to be understood manner or the most subtle of gestures (aka nuanced behavior, which has pretty much fallen out of style, grace, in the midst of all this gratuitousness as explicated here February 24th)...I mean what's it gonna' take, if this continues, to capture someone's attention, let alone, their imagination..."Impressive!" versus, "So, you're Brad Pitt..." Ugh...thud...To Ms. Twain, they're all the same..."Rocket Scientist..." Whatever.
"So, how did you..." "Escape my attention...just where have you been, all this time...?" Now considered quite 'prosaic'..."colloquial" even...so commonplace that you certainly won't stand out from the crowd. Even if you had started the conversation, upon approach, after you may have sashayed across the room...when was the last time you saw someone pulling this off successfully, as in "walking or approaching someone in an ostentatious yet casual manner..." π! In all this gratuitousness wouldn't it be superπ to see someone enter or even leave the room with such a manner that "left the whole room buzzing" if not aghast "They had style, they had grace..." (Madonna, 1990 "Vogue")...This after using the line that was considered by the so-called "upper crust", as in English upper classes, to be the only correct form of greeting someone for the first time ("How do you do?") once commonplace, even among such 'commoners' as You and ME, heard less often these days, and largely restricted to the most formal of occasions...
"So...how will you..." Either show that you are, indeed, "interested" (if UR, check out my post here just two days ago, which may have, instead managed to "turn you off" ππ) or, on the show that you are worth listening to, upon being asked, a more likely "cut to the chase" type of approach these days..."So...what ya' been up to...?" A question you've prepped for, hoped for, especially coming from this "person of interest" who you've been trying, "in earnest" (a combo of staying focused, serious, sincere in intent...π) to finally gain their attention, when/where..."everything you ever wanted in one moment...you only get one shot..." πππ°! (Eminem, 2002) The so-called 'one liner' that may actually make you "stand out from the crowd" you respond, even coolly, blithely even, "Been underwater"...pause, waiting for applause, you get, in return, "haven't we all...all my assets are worth-less with all this inflationary pressure...." Ugh, thud...."No, don't walk away yet, I've got more to say..." OK, just one more chance--implied or explicitly stated, "OK, now what?!" (Now I've got 'em...) "I've actually been underwater for 100 days, testing out, trying to break the world's record, as part of a university (of South Florida) sponsored experiment...I'm an (associate) professor who really knows how to get beneath the surface..."......."Whatever"ππ
"What's it gonna' take...?!" Good opening question, which might actually cut to the chase, save U lots of time and effort...sashaying, whatever...
BTW: If U want to see if she, as in "Madonna" has staying power, still in Vogue, her "Celebration Tour" coming soon to a Venue near-by --simply follow the crowd...
Next, if U bother to..."You've got a lot to answer for..."
