Gross, Anatomy: Lip Syncing...Kiss Off!   Required, reading (before viewing) "the organs, parts, and structures of a body that are visible to the naked eye..." Much of which, for many unprepared can easily gross one out. Especially if we haven't been exposed to those particular, hyper-sensitive parts. You know, the ones that have been covered up in good taste, at least the last few years...a few of which (upper and lower) are part of what "Anatomy" (a feared course for many med students) refers to as the "gustatory" system...at least the entree. So-called "private parts". As in lips, the outer part of one's mouth. You know, the area we, most of us at one time or another, the past few years, masked over...An area under (literally) investigation by both aspiring medical students or those of us who, as part of our "graduate-professional" training as aspiring psychologists, became a focus of study of "body language" - a HU...
Question-able: Therapeutic timing, place-meant...the whole truth of it... "So, where did we leave off...what did you leave out...did you think over what I asked you to...left you with...especially designed, timed, to deliberately leave you hanging...searching...?" Questions and commentary, qualifiers, regarding why and how I questioned you...sometimes without the adequate time or 'space' to answer...takes a lot of training and experience to do this correctly, so as to maximize the time in between...what's known to the public, outside the privacy, confidentiality of our discussion as a process... that ends up...keeping you guessing...thinking...pondering...😉😕...a "plot device" that, when it's done well, written into the plot (read here as the therapeutic session, whether still done in person or, more often now, remotely, which itself is a subject of Q & A...see below...keep reading...), keeps you coming back for more of the same (?) OR, on the o...
No (Self) Loathing Zone: All by Our-Selves  (Pre-post preface): I know this represents a slight departure, apparently taking you even "further from the truth" as I left you in a state of wonder-meant..."what did you mean by that...?" which in our trade is part of a well-designed strategy to provoke thought, reflection..."until we meet again..." but circumstances throughout the world I overheard since the departing comments on 8-20-23 have caused me, myself do a "double take" ("what the ...!?") a cause for a pause, a perfect opportunity to insert into our conversation some critical comments regarding self-criticism and other forms of self-correction that are actually part of any so-called "therapeutic process" you and/or I endeavor, even engage the services of another to first better understand, then apply the results of this whole process of Self-enlighten-meant, once we leave...to go out into the so-called "get real!...
In a State, of Be-Fuddle-Meant? Clearly... "You've come to the right place"  When/if you have been exposed to a myriad of conflicting information or just feeling a bit conflicted...to the point of not being able to think clearly. "Well, clearly you're in a state of befuddlement" Wow, that's what I came here for...leaving me even more dazed and confused, with just a tad more clarity than when I/we started this conversation...leaving me with more questions than answers... "Join the crowd" As in "We're all feeling a bit confused, conflicted these daze"...so much information coming at us from multiple sources, directions, sensory inputs...24/7...365 and now to include 360 degrees (such as the Universal Menu, on Oculus, others...) So, in other words, "You're not alone, take comfort in knowing your misery has plenty of company..." "Tell me about it" A bit of a cruel irony, or adding insult to injury, to someone i...
Oh No, FOMO! It Passed Me by... Don't sweat it; save it (the date). Bet you didn't even notice or formally marked the national holiday, which comes around every mid-August -- since 1985, at least...which is kind of the idea...to do the least amount possible, to "kick back and relax" (emphasis of relaxing over kicking back). Bet you were too busy working or at least contemplating your job, career, after reading up on it here, so many posts regarding so many dimensions on this domain of life. So, if you missed out on "National Relaxation Day" which occurred here 8-15-23 (if it occurred on a Wednesday it would take on a double mid-meaning, given how we as workers frequently refer to as "I made it past hump day...it's all downhill from here")...unless you are super orthodox about practicing the recommended strategies for relaxation on the appointed day, here are just a few that were offered in advance, for those steeped in the arts...see if you not...
Occ-You-Pational Success: Launch to (rough?) landing Career Launch: Which probably, if you are a typical worker-be, started out, not only with a degree of promise..."potential" (see 8/12 for full description) but lots and lots of ad-vice -- some of which may have been found in accounts by an actual person representing that career path-way, who visited your classroom in grade school, and eventually by visiting various tables or even a space allowing for a little more discretionary convo, "booths" at a "jobs fair" in H.S. and perhaps for those that ventured farther in their formal education, when "recruiters" visited your campus throughout the academic year...unless you found your-self graduating at what were referred to as "lean" times -- when employers had the upper hand, and you found yourself leaning on your folks longer than (they) intended... Defining, refining "Success!" Which is only important if you want to realize it.....
(A look) Forward and Back: Career Path-Ways, Means Part 1 - How it all-ways begins "Full of Promise" Whether it's a youngster type watching some "grown-ups" actively working, which in turn engages their imagination of "what I want to be..." Or, a few years on, on the verge of graduating from high school (I have to specify as there are so many graduation "exercises" at just about every level of so-called "educational attainment" these daze) the "seniors" among us are told that "not matter the economic times, you are the generation of the future...we're excited for, depending on you..."😕😟 And then, either shortly before or just after a post-celebratory breather, you are aspiring to your very first job...perhaps not the "job of my dream, my so-called dream job" but at least the first step in my career path...there is so much career related advice, opinions, and other-wise collectively now referred to...
The Long View, In Short Here, regard-less: That is to say, I'm here on your behalf, "loyal to a fault" (bordering on "burnout" due to over-doing it, regardless of whether my employer asked me to stay after or I, as a self-employed individual...), providing you, regardless of whether you are an occasional or more loyal follower here, with a post consideration post -- a reflection on this whole job search which inevitably led to being first, considered, a finalist..."welcome"...sent home...only to be called back (assuming you are considered at least 'semi-essential'). Regardless of when or where this post may find you 'working' (continuously being redefined re-engineered, as in Europa style first, eventually finding its way to Our shores). Regardless, whether you are a worker-to-be ("what do you want to do when you, finally, grow up, now that you've reached the age of majority for the 10th time over?") a wannabe, or a 'h...
Feeling Am-Bitious, RU?  Plagiarists and other I'm-poster Sin-dromes All a matter of degrees, in a matter of speaking (or writing): This is a post devoted to two things We -- those that fill out a (job) application and those that dare to try and decipher them, have in common -- the two special sections that can easily either make or (permanently) put on the brakes in a process of getting to the stage of "serious consideration" -- the ones that make You, the applicant, either stand out from the crowd or, get you tossed out ("You're out of the running...no longer being considered due to...") The two under consideration here, of course, what I'm writing about, speaking of, are the ones, the sub-sections of the longer job application that could, if it gets to the point of an actual in-person interview, become sticking points, at least a bit tricky, depending on how you filled out these sections, which become the basis for follow-up questions in the formal in...
Apply (for) Your-Self! Talking about apps, all kinds... App-propriate Spaces: "Complete it in full...There's a right and wrong way, to do everything; which side are you going to come down on...It's time to get down to business...for Getting On (Brits series)...I mean how are you going to amount to anything if you can't even fill out a ridiculously simple thing like a job application?!" Good questions, points made; I get it. Or them, many by now -- lessons in life, of "going about our business" that was drilled into me (U2?) early and often...well before I ever thought of (Me?never gave it a second thought, at least the first few days of summer break) picking up, let alone fill out (i.e., "complete!") an application of any kind whatsoever, let alone one that land me my first paying job. This, after doing so many chores and errands on behalf of those above me in rank ("I'm sick and tired of being someone's errand boy!") Highly m...
