A Double Take on Work, School, on Recess

"This is your life; this is your life on..." Or, in the older ad, "Your brain, on drugs", as an egg was dropped, into the frying pan -- a pretty effective visual meta-for, if you ask me. And here I am, providing you a public service announcement of my own, as if simul-casting (see 9/5, seems like just yesterday...) how work and school looks like when "On recess" Not the kind you're probably thinking of, as in the brief 15-30 minute breaks, during which you have several options as to how to break up your day, the monotony, that may have already set in, after just a few hours back...

Extended Vaca: As in how many schools around these parts told parents, an updated version of "In case of a temperature..." In this case due to the high ambient ones, many schools that are still ill-equipped as sans A/C decided (my inference here) "What the heck, we have a snow day leftover, may as well use it here, under the broader umbrella of climate concerns". Signs, Postings: As in the sign on the schoolyard, that I take a casual glance at, now and then, to see if it has added, subtracted, with a double take yesterday...did it actually say, in addition to "no dogs" (rarely complied with on any day, whether school is in or not)..."(no) children play here..."??? May as well have, and could have included, "any age, shape or form..." As my "walkabout" last evening, which included circumnavigating the neighborhood school, replete with a grass expanse, which usually features one, if not three soccer, lacrosse, other group outings "having a ball" (one size or another) and tons of playground equipment -- some of which even simulate the apparatuses, of the Olympic variety...both adjacent to the requisite back-top area which usually sees it share of "four square", "Hop scotch" (markings for both prominently displayed yesterday) and thus, more than its share per square foot, of skinned knees...

"Without a (contact) Trace" As in after circumnavigated a hemi-sphere, of the school, yard, not spotting a single person, I checked to see if a) there was an air quality alert I missed...not; or b) a memo was sent out to all parents, grandparents, school-children, workers that the school yard, including all its premises, equipment, was now considered "off limits" to all living things...(nope, no such memo, at least I was not on the "recipient" list)...As "not a creature was stirring...not even a dog..." What the...???!!! I am pretty sure that, even if school was in session, and all those were called back to work, even the "in-office" variety, there is no way they were all inside doing home, work...already. No way! All this caused me to put my own plans to recess, otherwise pause a day or two before posting, to put these plans on hold, as I was called into an ozone action day of my own here...So tonight I'm going to give it another shot, and in the case of no-body is seen, I'm going to have to, as we did in the old daze, even before streetlights were installed...start "calling you all out" to play, after dinner, before having to complete any home, work. You left me, with few options...

In any case, back to "Time to re-engage, gear back up..." (Next: what NFL players, teachers...common play-ground, -- another simul-cast, as in "scream! in screen")
