"Carry on, but don't get carried away (by the high winds)": A Recess! Pre-Cautionary

Part 1 of 2 - "To Boldly go" Out there...to the play-ground, or...where-ever. As in (Star) trekking.

Recessing: A verb form, a figure of speech that, for most of us, should conjure up places and times in our lives when/where, when allowed, we took a break from...whatever, where-ever...to refresh, re-invigorate, and other-wise to "let it all go..." (fore-shadowing for you spoiler sensitive individuals). Whereas, in its more 'stricter' (a word no student wants to hear before going out...) OK, a slightly more narrow interpretation that is more pertinent, if not more timely, to this time of year where children of all ages still look forward to at least a few extra minutes at lunch-time where, these daze, they are still allowed a few minutes of so-called discretionary time, activities, even access to their phones...concurrent with a gradual change in the conditions "out-of-doors"...

Wear we find Our-Selves: If you have been following along, with this whole series of posts about school daze, and the more recent emphasis, on behalf of all those who have already become a bit weary, with all the review of old material, let alone the 'anticipatory anxiety'...of "what's yet to come" as teachers have warned, cautioned students throughout the ages as to why they should finally settle down, get serious, as "next year they're going to expect more from you..." But here and now, it's not quite that dire, urgent, as my operational definition (that is, "one that specifies concrete, replicable procedures designed to represent a construct...") -- an important construct for us, graduate students, whenever we introduced a new application of a concept to our class, professor, anticipating we would, inevitably, get "grilled" unless we were highly specific...Recessing: "an act of taking a break from formal academics, to a place and time of more incidental learning (where lots of incidents and accidents take place, per capita...)"

Outer-Where? As in weather or not, no matter what the conditions, there's stuff available, given the numbers of specialty companies 'hawking their wares'...including those who have us (literally) covered with outer-wear, for those in-clement conditions...and on behalf of those recess! goers who would brave the rougher terrain, "out there" which, in turn gave rise to a whole lot of knock knock off jokes -- remember the 'fly-by-night' company (OK, more than a few nights, as it was founded in 2007 and dissolved in 2011) that started due to someone's dander getting up in response to all those who were wearing outer-wear but not hardly going...anywhere. That is, the lesser-known brand "South Butt" which turned the iconic giant "North Face" on its head (iconically speaking -- check it out). In any case, whether go (out) with one of the newer, so-called "fast fashion" textiles or the ones that have been (ostensibly, according to the label) tested under all conditions -- "Weatherproof" (let alone "Weatherproof Vintage") -- they've got you covered, all layered up, head to toe. No wonder, then, when it comes to lining up the kids for recess! amidst all the moaning and groaning of when the adults are trying to lure, I mean encourage, coax them, into the out  of  doors, you hear the refrain "You can always put more on but can only take so much off" No kidding, especially these daze, given the reports of the more direct sun, and other scary climate condition reports we try to shield their eyes from , in order for them to go out, enjoy some fresh air, congenial company, and all the rest that makes up a successful recess! period.

What comes out...Part 2: Before coming in, check your-selves.
