Leveling and Channeling...Fields of Play.
Right, left...center: Takes a while to establish your area(s) of strength (as well as...) which will eventually determine where you'll get assigned, on or in the field of play which, as my most recent post pointed out, is oddly referred to at times as a "park" whereas others, as if you owned it, a "yard". And, of course, politically speaking, these designations will also be accompanied by a color chart, state-by-state. Well, regardless what state you reside in, or which side of the ball park you find yourself, this post is an attempt to be inclusive, as in covering all the bases...we're talking base-ball after all, aren't we...? Whether you consider yourself a free-trader, commercially speaking, a level playing field is a concept about fairness -- not that each player has an equal chance to succeed, but that they at least agree to play by the same set of rules๐. There are even governing bodies who pass rules and regs, in attempt to provide fairness, especially when on side seems to have the upper hand, without even trying. Which doesn't even begin to account for what's called "handicapping" in sports...betting (HUGE industrial waste, I mean base). Then there's the several sports (both amateur and professional, the lines being blurred now by NIL and such) that are played out on guess what -- a playing field. In a perfect world such fields would be even but many are found, upon closer examination, to be slightly sloped, so that fair play is achieved by cutting the field as well as the game itself, in half (quarters in many cases). Which doesn't always account for the wind, that would also be experienced evenly if it held constant, but that's where "natural causes" come in and add interest, strategy, and all that. Then, finally, in the case of base-ball the field issue is handled by having both teams use the same field, at the same time, with just a few minor adjustments...
Fielding balls: Tons of videos about the correct, proper form, for fielding what's called a "ground" as well as balls that take off "like a bat out of..." which many times finds the out-fielder "running out of real estate" -- the signs of which are found on what's called the "warning track" -- minus the bells and whistles...The latter of which may also be found when I attempt to interpret, in my day job, otherwise...field your dreams...๐๐๐
