"Stay still, will ya'...DEAR?"
Circle Time!: As in cycles, of circles, that have been with us since what, in history, not just to the current gens..."ancient of days" or, stated in a more recent book..."A Millenium...several being millennia..." How's that, all you so-called "Millennials" the ones that US "Boomers" look down, I mean back on...who just don't seem to appreciate the value of...
A Good Read: Reading simply for enjoyment, otherwise referred to as leisure reading...brought to you not only, any more just when your "local public" library is open, but now an unlimited supply of your own "list" which can, if you prefer, remain private...
Once U start: Which can, on occasion, begin, contrary to the age old "You can't tell a book by its cover" turning the paperback over and read the few passages designed as a "tickler" -- to encourage you to run home...get on the plane...or simply...
“Oh, DEAR!”: Which explains why, I witnessed, in the "convenience" store, a shopper, upon approach to the counter, drop everything else in their hands...right then and there...and start reading the novel, they had so casually picked up...which caused quite a stir..."Sir..." and really held other things up (read “inconvenienced”) - that is, until he finally arrived at the part, of the "page turner" that started a "whole new chapter" from the author's up-coming book, yet-to-be-published, whose bio can be found on the inside cover of the back of the jacket...
On Demand: While, on the one hand, can reflect us consumers of reading material, the ones who have arrived at the time in our life..."I'll run of time before..." realize there's plenty to go around...and now, these days, more than enough "platforms" (or formats if you prefer, depending on tech support) to be able to take out the smallest of...smart devices...made smart due to the virtue of the quantity but more so quality of "classics" you can now find, in, on your, even while you, yourself are on..."watch". but what about all those, who have yet to acquire, outside of reading what's demanded of them, so-called "obligatory" or these daze, the amount it takes to get these gens of reader reluctants (so it appears from the collective test scores) to a "bare minimum" of "proficiency" (read my posts of 9/18, 9/19...for better appreciation)...
An Ode, to Joy: Of reading, even that which takes in the privacy of your...or more public, as in "circle time" which for school-aged children, of any age that have any inclination whatsoever, as in ever since the written word came into being...a "time to connect, celebrate...harmony...engage your imagination..." And even if you initially lack what's in our field of study, the "will" to do something, the initial motivation, to "get up and..." or even "sit down...join us..." which can be seen in scenes from many a family gathering in books, stories, the small circle of friends and family that listen more "intently" to the "reading of the will"...leading to the in-evitable question…
"What's in it for me?!" Great question, one that might ignite a discussion about the value of reading, whether it's among the listed "required reading" on the course "syllabus", what the dude next to you on the bus (you just can't help peering, can you?), might end your day..."Will you please read to me?" Circle complete.
Ticklish? We all are, it just takes while, to find it on some of you. But here goes: while reading is still appreciated enough by D.O.E.'s out there (Departments of Education, of course) to keep it a main, core course, what about the sides you might supplement it with to make it a complete diet, such as "word salad"? It's what I intend on covering in a yet-to-be published...text.
