Fans, citizens, and their Duel lingos

Let's face off: After standing back-to-back, walking exactly...bang! What a sucker to think your opponent is going to follow the rules..."exactly as they are written...it's all in the spirit of the game, Eh?" As in at least not jeering, if you can't bring yourself to cheer, for the opposition's national anthem...As in the game of hockey, when the opposing player tries to get the "jump" on you in what's called a "Face-off" by looking down...

Good old daze: When differences of opinion, and matters of chivalry, in order to settle, once and for all, whether "chivalry is dead" they relied on the gentlemanly exercise of dueling which, like a lot of other customs, were imported, before "customs" and tariffs could be levied. But you can bet in any denomination, whether you're "in for a penny...pound" that gambling and betting, followed closely behind...ergo "FanDuel" and its derivatives...

Voila! While the art, science (balance, physics stuff) and eventually the Olympic sport of fencing finds its roots in English, French, Germanic, and Latin linguistics, the specify term "En Garde!" which is a term that conveys, in modernized terms..."Gentlemen, take your positions" just prior to "get ready...."  is pretty much a French caption which, like lots of other phrases, adages, is borrowed, passed down from another, earlier culture...

"Tio trio!" ¿Como se dices...? The most common question we led with in Spanish III, the one where our "Nuestro Profesor" led with "Good morning...that's the last thing I'm going to say in English...unless you put the question in terms of..." Which was "muchos anos..." before Smart phones could be imported with stealth into class. A phrase that must have been imprinted on my cabeza, ("mente" to be more linguistically literate), given how readily available it was when, watching a Netflix series, what at least the duo lingo writers apparently had in mind, when they snucked, casually tucked in "tio" as the best sub for what we now generically refer to..."can mean uncle, guy, or even now...hey, girl...Dude!" of course. So, it's only the natural course of things, that as I once again, in whatever language you are most...conversant in...try to convey...

Dude Duel! As in a man, woman, uncle...who are willing to bet, against all odds, that they will beat the "casa" which, in most cases will, in whatever lingo, end with whatever translates as "Well, I'll be a monkey's uncle!" 😢😠😟

Dud Duels...In the end, in order to make ends meet, probably best to "Just don't duet"😔
