Exercises in Utility...Futility: Shaping Up, Character - Intro.

Even to a casual visitor to this blog, two of the more common themes with which I preoccupy myself and therefore occupy this space, which I have in turn sought to make fan favorites here, include shaping up!, getting into shape (literally), promoting physical and mental fitness, promoting stamina to take us through these pandemic months as well as for the long haul...and those in building, shaping character (as in "shape up!")...no matter what age or station in life you find yourself, whether as a parent you are trying to forge your child's traits that you even sensed in utero or you, yourself, are trying to 'reimagine' your personality, at least taking a few moments of reflection to 're-harness'  your own character traits -- those that have been more predominant throughout your formative and developmental years thus far, those reflected in your everyday behavior and encounters, those that can either invite or repel others...at least upon reflection, eh?

In this mini-series (some posts of which I have already thought out, others of which are forming as I write...), which has been provoked by recent trends in "The House" and around your house, I will touch on some stronger, touchy aspects of character that frequently evoke equally strong internal (e.g. "visceral") and external reactions from others, US. And, as you have become accustomed, assuming you are even an occasioner here, I give myself permission to go on intermittent tangents, intercede (foreshadowing, short of spoiler alert), within the series which may (as I can edit any time, you know, as it is my blog) include:

- One person's (child's) protest is another's...from invite to incite...

- Mr. Smith goes to...In the House and around your house

- "I hold you in...high regard...contempt..."

- (En) Countering ODD: Shape up!

ETC....
