Time Keepers, Keeping Time...Timing Out
1/3: As in "one of the big three" -- three precious resources I've already covered here (money, energy...TIME)...things we find are finite, find more in supply or, conversely, fleeting, depending on place and time in life. Time again to talk about TIME, as well as those who keep time on our behalf, the TIME KEEPERS. This, brought to you and me from a distant continent, a faraway place but in our own time. A contemporary story that has strong implications for some events to unfold in the near future, the Winter Olympics (assuming they still take place)...many timed events, depending on great precision, let alone objective judging. This time, the story about time du jour, includes that of the official, the official time keeper, at a critical time, in a critical futbol game, at the "Africa Cup of Nations" in Cameroon (the officials of which are doing a good job to make it a travel destination), calling it quits too soon ("Game between Mali and Tunisia ends in chaos"). Hard stop. Thud. Which eventuated in the official in question trying his best to explain, a "soft apology", and others, even on his behalf..."I think he may have had a mild case of heatstroke..." And so who could blame him, with all the multifunctionality of these supercomputers people are wearing on their wrists, he could have easily been otherwise occupied keeping track of another precious resource, at the WRONG TIME! We've probably all found ourselves on both sides of this, at unfortunate times -- where we want an event or experience to get over with ASAP, or, on the other hand, in the words of the Cranberries, want it to "Linger"𝅘𝅥𝅯
Soft Spots, Hard Stops...Or vice versa, the 'hard stop' that prompts the interviewer, who had him/herself put the interviewee on the spot with a question which would appear to require a degree of elaboration..."Sorry, we'll have to leave it there, we're up against the clock, a hard stop...so we can get a word from our sponsors...(which have a soft spot in our hearts)..." I, myself, am bringing you just this brief but hopefully enjoyable message, which covers an important topic/resource, one that will undoubtedly weave throughout several posts in the coming weeks, before this blog 'times out', like when the pandemic leaves our shores...In the meanTIME, I hope to leave you wanting more, such as in the coming attractions:
