Guess Who? Universally Recognized. Underappreciated. (Un)Called for.

Early and Often, Time to Time: While I've been around since the beginning of time, at least since when time started became a 'thing', I became more exploited as a means of corrective action across the ages, increasingly utilized as a way to interrupt "inappropriate" play in the home as well as "on the pitch". Did you notice me at the "SUPER BOWL"? Perhaps only half-way through...especially as time was running out...

No matter the name, it's still the same: No, not cheating in the Olympics, meddling in others' business, as in the ROC, as in the "Russian connection", but these types of infractions might indeed have you calling on me, when things are otherwise "un-called for!". I sometimes get masked, veiled, or otherwise masquerade under a vast array of names, synonyms, sometimes even to "protect the innocent", such as "adjournment, cessation of play, suspended play, interruptUS, commercial break, intermission, respite😌, hiatUS..." 

From Child, Super Sized; Teach...Over-Reach: Similar to your clothes and dinner portions on a restaurant menu, I tend to get adjusted according to age and circumstances, and tend to be longer when the sponsored event is "Super", at which time me, myself gets "Super-sized" to pay all those who may themselves need a break in play from time to time, to get a glass of H2O (or orange colored liquid now more a staple on sidelines), or tend to their own business, in case they did not pre-game. And then there's the cases that get wrongly associated with ME, that give ME a bad name, rep, lack of cred, such as what's happening right at this minute down yonder, way south of the border, as in "Cuban mothers call out government for detaining minors (at least 45 between the ages of 14 to 17)...for participating in last summer's protests..." Talk about "inappropriate" or, at least "misappropriate" amount of ME...I also get wrongly characterized as "re-education camps", as in some parts of China these days... 

Call ME Out, (un) timely: You will inevitably call on me at some point. Some (players, coaches, fans, for example) will find me a fan favorite, for the power I have in halting play, "pausing" as if on a remote, give you a bit more time to huddle, do whatever, before resuming, whereas others will find me a great source of annoyance, where the last two minutes of a game become "Super-Sized"...one coach can't get enough of ME and the other, would be more than happy to give up his/her remaining allotment of ME (only so many per game, even per half in most cases)...but no matter whether you are being sent to your room, on a zoom, you're in the stands, or a coach waving his hands, I'm known and...

Universally Recognized, Gestured: Even in a temporary cessation of conflict, even this very minute...whenever it's time for ME to put the brakes on what might be going at breakneck speed, bodies otherwise in motion put into suspended animation, in an attempt to spread...out...precious...time...you simply put a hand up vertical and the other horizontal on top...
