"SUPER BOWL EFFECT". Otherwise, effects of the Super Bowl; before, aftereffects; pre-post-
First things first: Congrats to all you who rooted for the winner, whether it was the actual team or the top rated commercial, or even Team Fluff from the Puppy Bowl. Lots of Bowling here. Before, as well as after. Bowls that were first full, then empty, lots to eat and drink, as you look at a full sink...an indicator, such as...
Bull! The outcome, as well as the indicator of things to come. At least that's what the "Super Bowl" indicator, which has followed the aftermath of this annual bash, mash-up, tells us -- that we'll have a 'bull market' in days to come, since the winning team was the NFC rep. Sounds like bull to you? We'll see. But if you were one that put down the right wager for "over/under", "point spread", or simply "Rams!" Congrats to you as well. As to the rest of us who know that the market is made of a SUPER number of forces and trends, that this NFC/AFC winner/loser predicting the winners/losers among long term investors, it's a case of "correlation does not mean causation". Neither did the choice of socks you wore yesterday determine anything. But if you were one of those who didn't change your socks or some other article of clothing, or put on some outrageous outfit out of some type of "Super" superstition -- don't worry, you are among a legion, including professionals themselves, who realize that even when they play their personal best, some things are still left up to chance. On the other hand, what you and I do have control over is another type of pre-game ritual you may have gone through, the aftereffects of which are "all on us", as in...
"The Super Bowl Effect" Another type of prediction, which has many betting against you. That, following a degree of 'resolve' earlier in 2022, about six weeks ago, you said you would either do/not do X, Y, or Z, to better yourself. And, based on large group data, the average time that most keep their 'pre-game' routines lasts about the time of the Super Bowl, on or about this date. Some still wonder how, besides all the gorging of goodies that goes on, a football game can make or more likely break a New Year resolution. Guess we can ask Punxsutawney Phil, who himself has been getting called out for being a fraud, for his so-called predictions, the aftermath of which has left many of us out in the cold. In any case, it's always a good time right after the Super Bowl to do our own 'gut check' (highly correlated with sporting events, when they are coming down to the wire, the "last drive of this game...") Or, a reflection of our mid-section, which may be a hint as to whether we have kept up with the resolve. Or whether we need to put our rally socks back on. It's pretty much up to us this time. BTW, how's your workout working out?😀☝🧦!
