Treat, Eat Wheat: Sowing, Reaping...Weeping
Sowing, Simply Put: "Simple?!" Anyone who has, after watching the "Home and Garden" channel, now simply known as "HGTV" to gardening aficionados, tried a "simple" DIY flower or veggie garden, in their apartment, or out in the backyard, knows it's far from it; there's much more than first glance, a lot below the surface. It's not as simple as just stuffing a bunch of seeds (however you obtain them, from a store or DIY from last year's plants😁) into some "potting soil" in a pot itself or out in the ground, provide occasional (probably enhanced) H2O, accompanied, of course, by either artificial, indirect light sources, or outdoors, simply let Mother Nature do her thing...all carefully timed, in the right amounts, to eventuate in "a crop!". Those among us who have assumed simplicity, attempted to duplicate what "man and nature" has been able to cultivate over thousands of years, now know that each part of this so-called 'simple' process of cultivating, seeding, germinating, sowing, threshing, winnowing...the whole process of "crop production", takes a tremendous amount of planning, time, and effort, let alone perfect weather conditions.
Metaphorically Speaking: We are simply referring here, today, to whoever, however, and especially whatever is being put into motion, scattered upon, about the earth for growth...
Sowing Scenes Seen: And heard, from afar. As in over there, in Eastern Europe, where the largest country (not the entire populace but a few principals) has been sowing seeds and deeds of discord, hate, and waste (as in laying waste, destroying) on the soil westerly, onto their next door neighbor, the second largest European country and one which produces (until recently) a significant percentage of the world's wheat, staple for most of us. In the middle of it all, are some messengers sowing seeds of despair, "over and through the air" as in interviews with many an unsuspecting Ukrainian, reminding them, already in an emotionally vulnerable position, "...aren't you scared...you must be terrified to not know how your loved ones are faring..." -- if they weren't up to that point, seeds of doubt may have just been planted. But just when you, the listener, may be prone to throwing up, throwing up your hands, come...seeds of hope, depicted in part by a young Ukrainian, in the midst of a huddled mass gathered in a shelter, rendering a rousing round of "Let it Go", a seed of hope that became viral around town. And, one of the newest and strongest seeds of hope for all the world, comes to us in the form of a young Ukrainian couple, having to give birth under such tempestuous conditions, fleeing home and hospital, seeking refuge elsewhere, citing "we have never felt so much compassion and support from people we never met..." And the Ukrainian-American couple, "stranded" in Kyiv, not only prepped for birth but also opened a bakery under such conditions, baking bread and other products for the huddled masses, with locally grown wheat. And, finally, a young at heart Ukrainian (79-years young), taking up arms, resolutely "taking her place in line", for military training: "I'm prepared to die defending my country". Behold, a lineage of great hope. GRIT.
Proverbially: "He who sows injustice will reap disaster, and the rod of his fury will be destroyed"
"Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously..."
