Unrefined Moments: Torrents, Abhorrence

"We interrupt this program..." This post, actually. As I had indicated a different progression. This, prompted by some "remarkable!" events in the last 36 hours...news cycle...

Cringe, Binge worthy: As in "Extra-Ordinary!" "Un-Forgettable!" "Most memorable...Night at the Oscars!" "Hooray for Hollywood!" Followed by "A night we would not want to repeat...forgettable...regrettable...abhorrent" If you didn't see it for yourself "Live" you would think it contrived, photoshopped after it was otherwise 'stopped', taken off "Live feed". Lucky or not, for the rest of the world, before it was completely deleted, it had gone viral, with glimpses of those in the "Live audience" seen watching screens...Scream!" The rest of us left "Live Streaming" Almost made us and some of the world forget an adlib, extemporaneous comments made by our U.S. president regarding a counterpart, remarks from which he and his 'handlers' tried to quickly depart. We can all relate...

Bravo! The coveted "curtain call!" "encore!" A crowd pleaser. Maybe even 'crowd funded'. Followed, perhaps due to the fickleness of an audience, a bad review, or one bad unrefined moment (e.g., negative remarks about a star's wife, a less-than-subtle suggestion, call for a "regime change", a slap-in-the-face, either figuratively or literally in the case of the star who was about to be handed a major award, instead using his own hand in a less-than-graceful gesture), end up with thoroughly "rotten" tomatoes. All this, on the world's stage, right before our eyes and ears, responses ranging from cheers to jeers.

Enough said (more than, actually). BTW, there was one noted host out there in TV land, who likely experienced a degree of relief, knowing that his recent major gaffe in handing the Oscar to the wrong party for the "Best Picture" that year. I think I heard him chuckling even at a distance, knowing he could now safely distance himself from our memories. Remember? Either we have a really short STM or long on charity. Could be a little of both. We can only hope so, if and/or when it's our turn to shine.
