Re:Fuse: The Long and Short of It; heap of trouble...words at my disposal.

"They're not gonna take it"  Variation on a theme, meme we heard as long ago as 1984, a twist on "We're not Gonna to Take It" by Twisted Sister, previously known as "Silver Star" until along came a Segall named John joined up with the original lead singers, some of who took on some interesting nicknames, a few which seem a bit twisted, if you ask me; but it's all a matter of personal taste (I'll come back to this, promise). I digress, distress, in response to the refrain I heard once again from my personal project manager (i.e., wife), reminding me "It's trash day but remember, it's also a new day with new rules about what and how they'll take it, this refuse of ours...if it's not put in the right containers and at the right place, space, they have the right to refuse it..." All this, well before there was even "Recycling😕😖!" Which, to nor surprise from any of you regular readers, sent my mind to wander, wonder, reflect on the 'good ol' days'...days of old...before the days that "Littering" became fineable, when those in cars ahead of us could be seen throwing stuff out the windows...containers, cigarettes...hopefully only soft stuff, as much of it had a tendency to bounce off your windshield, before littering the landscape...the laws and positive peer pressure "Litter bug!" have fused to form an effective deterrent, so that now most of this discarded stuff ends up in what we refer to as a landfill ("NIMBY!").

Long and Short; (dis)taste-full: Regardless of whether you are referring to "refuse" as a verb (in which case, you should think twice, about time and place, when it's helpful, worth defying, for example) or a noun, it will in turn influence whether you make the short or long vowel sounds we were taught as early linguists; whether we use the short form of "fuse" or add "sion" and talk about foody types, it will reflect your own preferences, your personal tastes...even when referring to the temporary "refuse" this morning at the end of our driveways, there's till lots of room for personal taste here, as in "one person's garbage is...". And, of course, even when just relying on the shorter version of "fuse" we ourselves have experienced both short and long ones, at various times...before going to critical mass and way before going to our own personal nuclear option, which requires a fusion of sorts...

The Long Haul: As to where and how long it will take for them to haul all this stuff away, how long before a landfill becomes such that it will have to be expanded to a locale approaching my own driveway (locally, there accumulated so much trash, more than the landfill could handle, that the re-purposing crowd saw it as an opportunity to make it into something we could all enjoy, especially in the winter, "Mt. Trashmore"😎😌). And, as a last resort, my personal retort, to those who tell me "They won't take it..." I reach way back to earlier Gens, who did not resort to such trashy responses as we see today even in our leaders when they find others distasteful, in response to specious arguments..."Rubbish!" For it is trash day, after all..."I'm just putting it out there, kicking it to the curb..."
