Re: Heating: from...hot deals to...cold cuts; the day after, a month B4...

Thermal, dynamics: (comma, intended) what happens when we consider both separately and together, the interaction of, the concept of temperature (what a lot of people we knew were taking yesterday, as various flus seem to have proliferated despite most we know having gotten vaccinated😓😡)...or, of course, the type of underwear lots are starting to "layer up" with this time of year, or just the concept of heat all by itself...and the concept of "constant change, motion...dynamic!" The combo of which gives us the "branch of physics that deals with heat, work (especially in the kitchen yesterday and the day before, even the day after), temperature...their relation to entropy, and the physical properties of matter and radiation" 🌞!!

As overheard, yesterday, here and there..."My, how things have changed!" Today..."...bodies in motion..."

Static, cling: (comma-tose): those that might be opposed to change, keep things "just the way they are...cling to tradition..." Or, more scientifically stated, a lack of humidity in our homes, especially the first time we turn on the furnace in response to a (change) in the temperature, the natural process that seems to happen around most parts this time of year...that we can now adjust, given the advent of humidifiers (or de- as needed)...Or when put together, as pieces of clothing, or bodies wearing them, whether in the dryer or close proximity, create "an electrostatic charge...when opposite electrical charges cause different substances to cling to each other...while perhaps initially welcome after such a long time away😊, if too quick on the approach, could be "shocking"😧!

As overheard, in the midst of a cacophony of convo..."...the more they stay the same, things..."

We're all feeling "It": As in "feeling the heat" as the pace now quickens, as some of us, especially the so-called "snow birds" seek the warmth of the sun...fly south...whereas others, going in opposite directions, prefer to be "left out in the cold", to ski, sled, even just the simple enjoyment of once again, once the snow is sufficient quantity and quality, at least once, make snow angels, head "up north" (redundant but 😎)..."feel the burn", those who have sought the warmth, flew to tropical climes, but neglected to pack the correct sunscreen...those who have sought the warmth of the gym, to literally burn off Cals they themselves packed more than sufficient yesterday, in anticipation of many, many more to come, the coming days, more Holidays! The opposite being "the big chill" of the reception you may have experienced if you ventured too far into the stuff, the 'Big Three' things you just don't bring up around friends and families on the day we all pause to giving "Thanks!" (see yesterday's post for a more thorough encounter)...and for the rest, who prefer to, on the day after, to be "just chilling" - a body at rest, "Thank you very much!"

Burnt Offerings, now and then: In the olden days, as in B.C. when things seemed to go on and on, without much change..."an offering on an altar as a religious sacrifice..." Whereas around here, in these contemporary and times and in a more secular context, tend to refer to...what my family was often treated to, a rude awakening, in the form of my burnt toast 😡! And, whether "back then" when we grew up with stoves and ovens, or the "here and now" when there is a whole range of ranges, as well as microwaves, convection ovens, etc., there is still the universal greeting, on those occasions, when you are, even unintentionally...

"Late for dinner" (overheard, then and now): "Your dinner's in the oven, but it's probably dried out by now...don't blame me..." "Your dinner's in the fridge, you can microwave it, or just have cold cuts...but you'll be eating alone...next time, maybe you'll..."

"Be on time!" Whether you got up super early, waiting in line for that hot deal, while at the same time out in the cold...or you're putting the action on "pause", catching your breath, telling yourself "there's still plenty of time..." In either case, wherever you find yourself, throughout this "day after"...

"THANKS again for coming, making time for ME"
