Re: Intro, Re, Deduct-ions: Speaking of...

"In, Out so many words": Prior to, as prolonging a prologue, or what U may consider "the inevitable", as in me keeping U longer than necessary, which both of us thought on occasion when we were formally "schooled"...which, of course, included a course in word usage. A growing appreciation as we were first intro-duced to the singular words, their various usages, and then how they combined to make complete thoughts, sentences which were, in turn, punctuated with signs, symbols. Which were then linked together to form paragraphs, after which were allowed to "paraphrase", abbreviate, re-state an "original author" or source. When nicely put together -- words, phrases, paragraphs, quotes and references, were put together in the form of "papers" πŸ˜• which got handed in, or "over" if we were caught cheating...copying...plagiarizing!πŸ˜“πŸ˜Ÿ -- "but I thought that imitation, copying was the highest form of flattery, teacher"πŸ˜‡πŸ˜‰ As we meanwhile, matriculated to "institutions of higher learning" (including some really 😎 use of words we saw on new word walls, as in the rest-rooms...)...Speaking of...

"Moving on...while all the while" As in moving forward, whether in conversation, or "whatever", while you also reflect, consider, not forget, the whole "erstwhile" thing...What's in front of us, what we're heading for, as well as what's in our rear...Along with words and language to assist each "subjective" experience. As I "here and now" pro-long yet another iteration on the "now and then" of "where we are at" -- as in, still, yet..."in the throes, throws of..." deciding what to rid ourselves of, what new things to accomplish this coming year(s) as in short/long term goals, which pre-cedes the inevitable, as in "filing" in just a few months, which may, if you "itemize" incorporate, only after you, yourself, decide if you count yourself as a "deduction" πŸ˜•and careful consideration of your "dependents" before full discloser and possible "further review" πŸ˜“πŸ˜Ÿ by the "biggest and most aggressive collection agency in the world" comes calling, calls into question your word usage...actually your interpretation of the words "gain" and "loss", preceded at times by the adjective "capital"; it's so subjective. Speaking of...

"Word" The singular usage of which can mean so many things to so many people depending on contextual cues --  tone, who it emanates from, where, when, how often, voice inflection, cadence (the latter is questionable here as it's presumable a word that stands for itself whereas cadence is more often and apropos to those situations where you are being subjected as a listener to,.."To make a long story short" -- which is often contra-dictory, as in...

"Here and now, now and then": Up to this point, my usage of single and word combos, to convey what started out such a simple message, which may get lost in translation unless I, in response to your pleas, get to the #@*&^% point! Okay...

"The point of all of this...banish-meant" Is to simply point out, bring your attention to yet another annual rite around this area, at least, at Lake Superior State University, where it's become customary to take a vote, show of hands, regarding words, phrases, idioms, you would "just as soon..." Presumably, ostensibly, to make room for some that we have not yet conceived of, but will, in the coming days, weeks, months, "creep into our vocab". And, not to be left out in the cold in the northern region of this northern but still "midwestern" state, I myself can cast a vote. So, in addition to those in the current list, which includes "GOAT" ("Greatest Of All Time!") which I found curious, as in my own world, this went the way of Muhammad Ali who not only claimed to be, but stood up to the test...literally. What I also found conspicuous in absentia, my personal fav for this year's list, an "add-on", which if they wish could include as a "footnote" or perhaps a head-liner of the year next ------ what, with all the negative connotations, including the last week of the year, inconveniencing a legion of US...cancelled flights, after so many other cancel-lations the past few years -- some of which were brought on the pandemic and others well, more culturally based, but became in and of themselves almost an epidemic, almost adding up to a culture themselves, a sort of 'dis'-embodymeant (new word for 2023?). You'd think these so-called word-Smiths, would have thought so as well...But just as I was about to get this campaign off the ground, cast my 'absentee' vote, I had an epiphany of sorts: that with surge of interest and popularity of noise cancelling headphones, no one would hear me, let alone listen...

#Words Matter, Merriam-Webster. Some just have more staying power, stand on their own, than others.  Duh!
