Re:admission, Remiss-ion: Happy birthday, congrats, TY! With all due, PMR.

Be-lated-Me: A mash-up of words, acknowledgment, convey-ances, regarding my belated "Best wishes", "Job(s) well done!" and "Much appreciated", on this very day, three days after, the day set aside by Word-Smiths, to acknowledge the life, times, re-wording of Peter Mark Roget, one which included many roles, hats...the making and carrying around, until he finally got around to, making lists of lists...words that resembled, when once assembled, in certain way (see below) could provide you and me, word substitutes (as in "when another word will due") about a century and a half on now...and many decades for me after I be-friended him, way-y-y-y B4 FB make provision for asking to be, as in "friended" - - a word that took on a whole new meaning well after he could have conceived it...which became, for me, a matter of great urgency, pre-occupation, when my HS English teacher, on my weekly "red-letter day" suggested I was a bit...well...re-dundant...even on occasion, re-sorting to "tautology"πŸ˜• - the latter after I had already tried to say the same thing with different words, but I guess came off a bit re-petitive, unnecessarily wordy...running over the a-llotted space (e.g., "limit yourself to 1,000 words while fully conveying, getting your point across..."). Yeah, so...the Thesaurus became my "go to" source almost as often as Merriam-Webster et al. for words, and eventually found alongside the almost whole set of Encyclopedia Britannica (weren't you always missing, misplacing at least one volume, the one you needed in a time of desperation...😟😠😒?) in my college dorm room. This was well after, of course, we all learned, second hand, about the level of tolerance, and otherwise risks of "plagiarism" 😟😞😟😒...which now has filters, apps, for both students and those grading them, as to just how much we were inspired, or simply copied "their works" or through a lot of thought, reflection, at least re-worked, re-worded, made them "our own"πŸ˜‡...A re-org of sorts, of words, knowledge categories with which we were becoming familiar...

Thesaurus, Dinosaur-us: Borrowing (but not plagiarizing, not sure this was yet a commonplace 'thing' yet) from the principles of zoological classification, Dr. Roget (a title, moniker he had acquired by his medical practice, a pre-occupation, prior to his acquisition and lugging around an increasing number of lists, which eventuated in those who knew his well, an increasing source of annoyance, I imagine..."Hey, for Pete's sake, why don't you just write all this down, publish, and be done with it?!") came to think of, then organize all knowledge, made up, of course, by words, in a manner inspired by his predecessor, the naturalist Carl Linnaeus, who divided animals into six categories (i.e., "taxonomies"). Which Dr. Roget conveniently, for us these days, with our limited attention spans, re-orged thousands of words, into a simple "easy-to-use" system ranging from A onto...A -- as in "Abstract Relations" πŸ˜” on into "Space", and everything that "Matters" and ends us back to🎝...A for "Affections"😌. There's something here for everyone, words, combos, that can be accessed, used without guilt, even sans a TY note...

"In other words" Happy Thesaurus Day, 2023! and Happy bday to PM Roget...a name that has become synonymous with "Synonymous"πŸ˜‰πŸ˜Š
