Pe-e-e-e YOU! A Fore-shadowing...of things yet to come...
What's in store, for YOU: And a strong connection, association with the past...accumulation of 'stuff'...as in strong sensory associations...sounds, sights...and SMELLS!" A network of sensations, organs that take them in, and parts of our brains that have evolved over time, to assist us throughout our daze...As well as an evolution of how to best describe our experiences, through language...various enunciations...truncations...Which, of course have their origins in both Greek, Latin...as in "puteo" ("smells bad, rotten...putrid). Or, in more contemporary terms...
"How re-do-lent" As in "how strongly reminiscent, suggestive,...fragrant..." Or, in even simpler, terms, the ones we can use to teach our youngest, introduce them to both senses and figures...of speech...
"Stinky Winky!" Which around our house, as we had one youngster whose "olfactory" worked overtime, became a hall-mark and a gentle reminder as to why, how, what might bring these things to mind...a response to the innocent question, "What smells?!" Speaking of working overtime...
"This stinks, it stunk, got skunked!" As in "I should have sensed this coming"...trusted my stronger instincts, the "vast" accumulation of experience...which was there to serve me, to overcome my acquired "hubris" (excessive pride, self-confidence, which can evolve as one gets used to being more right, than wrong...even as in just a smidgen over 50/50, as I now re-collect...)
"Serves YOU right!" What the boy in question could have easily exclaimed -- you know, the one..."under investigation...closer examination..." leading up to, which ultimately led to miss-diagnosis...(see 9/21 if you want a full-er account). How I/we can be miss-led by some initial, strong sensory inputs which, in my case, included both sight and smell...which, only upon reflection, a "good look in the mirror" after I was asked "So, how was your day...learn anything new...at school...?" What it took, as in being first humiliated, more than humbled, after I bumbled, then fumbled the attempted 'hand-off' (in this case, a literal 'sneak-peak' by this rascal I was presented with as the "head examiner")...of what he (literally held, in his hands, how he deftly handled this so-called "expert witness")...
"Your-Reek-AH!" A convention attributed to (of course) an ancient Greek mathematician/inventor Archimedes, and re-applied a bit un-conventionally as what I (could have, should have) uttered, when more fully realizing...what I had just experienced...a combination of sight, smell, which finally over-came my own super-EGO...
"Voila!" A common interjection, a French word..."borrowed into English" conveying satisfaction, approval, or even to suggest an appearance "as if by magic" And what, I now imagine, upon full-er reflection, taking into account all of what had occurred, and what did NOT occur to me, due to my pre-occupation...what this schoolboy was trying to convey and how he ended up...
"Teaching You (ME) a lesson" Or, in my case, "You'd think, by now, I'd had already learned a thing...or two..."
Stick around, come back, for yet another Recess-ion lesson...in PU!
