Clerks of Convenience - You just never know...

It's inevitable: That, sooner or later, we all find our-selves in their presence, perhaps even seeking a last minute one of our own, or a few small items, "no matter the price" to fill, stuff! a stocking, or two. More likely the result of an over-sight, as in "batteries not included". Or even a host/hostess gift, accompanied by a "message...in a bottle". No matter the cause, by the time you have come to this point, of reading this post, the time of day or night, the reason or season, it's a matter of (in)convenience that these so-called clerks, are always there for us...

It's understandable: That we, my-self (elf) first and fore-most, partially through their own conditioning, take them for granted. After the initial branding of "we open when other stores close...their doors" on to 24/7, 365+ (accounting for the extra few minutes that add up to leap year every four years). And due in part to, at more critical times, when we are in a "mad dash...in-and-out..." hardly pay them a glance when paying, tapping our card with a slight down-ward gaze. Let alone hearing "thanks!" while hurrying on our way...

'Twas Unexpected: As in an unexpected pleasure, when I found a card, un-opened on the front desk of my office, after-hours. Come, to find out...that words and showing interest still matter: "You came into my store, early many mornings...thanked me each time for my service, for being there at all hours...which I thought was strange as I was not used to this...One day pausing and asking what I do when not working...all night long...Which grew to include encouragement to continue my schooling, when I found myself behind, after returning from having to tend to family matters at home, overseas...Thought you might like to know that your encouragement mattered, helped me get through a difficult time. Which was before I found out where you went each day, when you left my store. Thought you might like to know how I'm using my schooling...now that I finished, after hours and hours..."

One never knows...Merry Christmas!

Coming soon: As in before the year ends...A holiday line-up: What qualifies you?
