P.S. (Public Service) - Be on the lookout for Humbugs.
Saint-sational! Easily missed, other-wise dismissed as things that might, in another place and time be considered as less under-whelming. And those that, while all our senses are inundated, to such a degree that some among us, will report "duress!" Feeling a bit de-Santa-tized. As in "enough already, can't we just get this over with...I miss Halloween, as there were just so few expectations..." Well, as the old saying goes, "there's no time like the presents, eh?" And, of course, all the little ones will be on the look-out for the "one and only" versus all those "department store...storefront...window dressing-up types" The ones that, despite what their older sibs told them, an attempt to play spoiler (alert!) -- still found it worth their while to stand in line, wait (im)patiently, to sit on the lap of...a "jolly, old..."
P.C. : Whereas, at other times and places, processed as Politically Correct, oddly, for at least the next several daze, it's like...a Perfect Combination...as viewed through the eyes and ears of children...an old dude who they would at other times either actively avoid upon approach or simply dismiss as such (old-ish, that is) but when "jolly" and "old" get together...it's like...
Hum-bugger! Not what you expected eh? But isn't this what the reason for the season...that after all the wrapping is done...the presents passed and you are now just about to pass, out...there's one more left, you can just sense it...you just nose it...as in what's left of your...
Old-factory: As in "what's that (familiar) smell?" One that you (un)faintly remember...the one I strongly associate, Pavlovian like, with my "Nana's" house and then, like out of nowhere, we found them omni-present around our own home (our mother, following suit as a candy-striper)...especially this time of year...plenti-full trays, jars...the ones that stores could not keep enough of that at other times of the year people, grocery store shoppers act as if they are just commonplace, as in passerbuys... But when you really need them, just a few more to keep everyone content...you rush to the nearest so-called "convenience store" (a site for sore eyes and focus of my near-future attention, a near-buy post) where the deluged clerk, even before you can open your mouth, given your countenance, counting out your last pennies you managed to scrape together..."they're in aisle three, right next to the candy canes...and to the left of the Peppermint Patties (which Charles Schultz recognized, worth personified)...one aisle over from the left-over Christmas cookies (the ones that have not been devoured or other-wise 'tossed') -- I think there may be just one jar left...of the yummy in your tummy...throat soothing...hard-boiled and brightly striped...you can't miss 'em...(now does it sound familiar?)" The coveted counter candy...
Humbugs! Jarring, eh? But when used nominally, as in as a noun, that's what these sweets, that at other times of the year can easily be taken for granted and thus, probably easier to obtain...used now, even therapeutically...
Object of Confection: Note from shelf...bah! (as in bah enough for next year...when they go on sale🤶)
