Wrinkles in Time: A new look at...
Anything new here? You ask your-Self, so early in the (calendar) year -- which for lots of those in educational settings, barely marks the midpoint (just after mid-terms for lots of collegiates...how did you fare๐๐--did you even bother to look?)...This, after you've hardly had enough time to fully reflect, put last year in the rear (view mirror, that is). To gain perspective. To see what is firmly "etched" in your memory, partly reflected in your so-called "countenance" -- the sum total of external features -- the ones that people first encounter, along with the more internalized traits that you project, most consistently...the ones that people long associate with who you really are -- your character. All-ways a good idea to take at least a few moments here (first few minutes of the new dawning, of whatever age) and there (the close of another, duh!) -- to take stock (or sell, depending on your longer-term goals), learn from the past, before moving on...
Reflections, Detections: Anything new here, you look at your-Self? Any new wrinkles...lines of reasoning...those that pose as "grim reminders" or, by sharp contrast, "grin and wear it" -- the latter with pride, as part of your moniker ("it was if she had a smile planted on her face"). At a time of day or year, depending on how you mark when many resolve to smile more, frown less in the day(s) to come...as you attempt to join the throng who vow to spread more cheer, good will even, throughout the entire year (then three cheers to you๐๐๐)...
Lens Cleanse: You, the "new U" that you are striving to be...as in a trimmed down version (see U?) -- you will find your-Self in legion with other well-wishers...the ones that resolve to not simply look better but feel "up to it" (to face yet another day, year...energized!). If this is You, than it may be add-visable to NOT spend too much time and "hard earned cash" in what's touted, by none other than Kevin O'Leary (Shark Tank) a year we may be a bit leery our-Selves...as in "down-sized" -- if you plan well, it doesn't have to be a real downer...In my view, through my own lens, what he might be advising is those seeking "elective" (here meaning "cosmetic") -- quick fixes, be more discerning...keep your money in your pocket, stash it away (he should know, he's among those who all the contestants find a "tough sell"). Instead invest in your-Self, as in furthering your education (whatever that means to you, depending on your means) and, by contrast, as any financial add-viser encourages...reduce your debt load -- especially credit card interest -- the levels of which continue to rise, as incomes...while see levels...
One more look, a steady gaze: As in "steady (finishes) the race" -- a slightly different take on the old time-tested adage, brought to you, by us performance psychologists, as in the story of the tortoise who, like myself, has little hare, but through thought-full planning...manages to at least finish what he started (well, something like that, twisted eh?). The main point, the one I hope you'll take away from this brief glance at this very first post of this new day...is that I don't find it problematic if you're among those who dash! out in front of the competition, whether starting a "couch to 5K" or launching a new career path-way -- or by contrast you, by accumulating some Self-awareness, wait until the 59th minute of the eleventh (more like the 23rd) hour to cram! it all in ("I work better under pressure"๐ ) -- doesn't really matter to me...just remember, when you come back here, this time of yet another new day/year, you'll get the same old add-vice -- have a plan, stick to it, see your-Self finish, what you started out, resolved to do, at the gym or wherever. As in...
Inspiration...Perspiration...Transformation...Out-comes (the new) YOU! OR...RU...
Un-becoming: As in what the studies from our field now inform you, you might as well, not even start, as the majority of those who make what are still referred to as New Year resolution, after setting forth on a path of good intentions, find them-Selves experiencing, along with billions world-wide now, what's become known far and wide, as the "Super Bowl effect" -- see my post, see for your-Self (2-14-22) -- the time of year where your firm resolve has managed to dissolve. So, I ask You, one more time, is there really...
Anything Knew here? That's up to You to decide -- Happy New Your!
Add-end-dumb: While Mr. O'Leary may have squirreled away more currency ("stash your cash for the long haul") than I have, by the looks of it, he's also managed to shed more hare๐!
