"Just in the Nick of Time!" BNPL
Point-Of-Sale: As in "Point, click, pay...well, into the future..." Isn't that the point, of a sale...?
A little light..."in the pocketbook?" An old, idiom, which has outlived its use...which used to mean "extravagant tastes...beyond one's economic means..." Acceptable replacement...no worries...
"A lighter pocketbook" On which does not have a pocket, nor even secret compartment for guilt...
Through the years, no more tears: No need to defer..."Gratification"...you can have it all, without having to pay what used to be, before the cancel culture canceled creditors and their reporting..."cold cash" Which came to be augmented, supplemented...
Now you see it...And then, right before you eyes, whoosh! taken off the counter by the counter clerk, or your less-than-friendly cashier. Which came to be known as "Lay-away..." Talk about a tease, being able to eye that thing you put on the counter on the shelf again, within sight of the cashier and the so-called "paying customers..."
Shelf life: Apparently the "Layaway" shelves got weighed down, themselves...to be replaced with buying on credit, as well as buy credit cards, one which can replace another, or even combine several into one...just to make your pocketbook (curious name for a container that doesn't seem to contain one)...a byte lighter...
WIMPY Wallet? This, putting off the inevitable, or trying to grab and dash...is nothing new. Personified by one of my favorite characters from Popeye..."Gladly pay you Tuesday for a Hamburger today". Eventually replaced by "Hamburglar" (talk about grab-N-go!)...
NOW, you have it ALL: Why weight...join the rest of U.S. who have been enjoying a voracious (aka "UGE!"), unsatiable appetite, who in turn have been feasted on by less-than-savory credit biz practices...bringing you and me an unlimited menu of options...
Interested yet? Who even looks beyond the "minimum monthly payment" portion of whatever is being substituted for "laid away...credit card..." But consumer alert, so much for buying "On sale" when, instead you're paying..."with interest"...
"Pay NOW Pal!" Hope I didn't ruin your appetite, with just ten shopping daze left...
(Little known, fun fact: being able to delay gratification used to be an attribute of considerable interest in the field of psychology)
