Welcome to strife, in the WMMNBA…cross training, on the court.
The knockout punch…
Well before Caitlin got clobbered…
We grew up, knowing there were certain lines not to be crossed…
Cross words that out on the court considered trashy talk…
“Mum’s the word” on the one hand…”You’re such a mommy’s boy” and the more nuanced “daddy issues” as in “sugar”… that in modern fight/fight response “triggers” your opponent…
Hysterically speaking, we were taught that even if poorly timed, in a term of endearment, “You’re a real knockout” could get us slapped, with a foul. As in getting "fresh" about the flesh (OUCH!)
Back then, while actively courting, getting "lucky" meant something. Whereas now, while coming to the court, we're lucky, after all the tongue lashing and slugfest is said, done, we may finally get to see some "hoops" played out.
Next round house right: The "skinny" on "Big and Beautiful Bill!"
