Grate-full, but thankless: Right in the middle, the epi-center of patient care, where you can't tell if they're coming or going...as in the nurses and docs...hardly get to know their names. given all the 'shifting' you are responsible for...

Manage-meant: Caught in between the so-called upper and lower floors...and finding yourself in both internal and external conflicts..."you'll coordinate patient care, ensure effective outcomes, on the way to discharge planning, as part of a larger team to manage effective use of health care resources..." 

In any case: Not a very patient population...."but a position that you could look back with satisfaction ...having groan from it"😒😄
