“Leave something behind; forget to fill up, your cart?"

Life, on the go, from boomer to busted😖

“Woke up with a great start…” 🎄

A contemplative view… on the so-called halcyon days of old…

Post card… from a fine boomer friend: “Please write a post about Christmas in the 50’s”

Best place to start… is the starting line - - where all (go)carters go, to get theirs…

Living life through the rear-view mirror…when being told your best times are now..."time to slow down..."👎

Prompting a fond revue... aka revving it up, "step on it!"👍 as in the wistful daze of go carting...

Being the first one on the block... to actually make it, around our own neighborhood, city block...

Keeping up with the Joneses… driving solo, as in the only one that mattered back in our day, our assumed name when in the driver’s seat - “Parnelli, whoa Nelly, Jones!"

Hot rodders are us… the dynamic duo of me with the big ideas and my buddy down the block, with the eye on design.

Resourceful were we-e-e! some (shopping) cart wheels in front, baby buggy wheels for the back, and the cane with the stopper, from great uncle Jack, as the instrument for "full throttle!" (sure he won't miss it, while hitting the bottle). All we needed now was a source of power -- in  a stroke of good luck, brought to us in the two stroke variety -- a well-tested lawn mower engine (his garage being our test lab, for home grown ideas).

Here we a go-go! for a time trial spin, coming around the final corner with wheels up, (with the help of some phone books and duct tape in back) dead ahead waving at us not with a checkered flag, but a wagging finger, ..."better get your behind inside before I tan your hide"…

Busted again… just when we were enjoying a wheely, our plans now on the rocks, after our parents found the evidence of our handiwork, up on blocks…

Winner's circle of life - “Kids these days, don’t know what they’re missing…these streamlined scooters that come with age, weight requirements, along with booster seats, while ours didn’t even have lap belts, which made for a much freer…ride” 😳

So, life back in 50 while not always nifty, as far as go carters go, it was never just for show. Sirius stuff. A Merry Christmas to those wishing for go carts, which are now, about fifty years on, called "drifters"⭐

(Rule of our day was that leaving a shopping cart intact was the work of a mind on idle)
